Emine Kaya
May 12, 2007 10:45 PM PDT
This is Rabia Garib and I'm back with another episode of We the Fellows, talking to the various Eisenhower Fellows from this year's Multi nation Program. I've had a wonderful time meeting all of my co-fellows but my first meeting with Emine Kaya of the Netherlands, stands out. The second morning of the fellowship, I stumbled downstairs for breakfast when I saw someone madly waving in my direction. Never having seen this person before, I waved back and sat down to have a conversation with Emine and it was like we were simply picking up a conversation we had started earlier, which obviously wasn't the case. Over the next few weeks, I've had some interesting discussions with Emine and had the opportunity to learn so much about what she does. You can feel the energy that Emine emits in a room and you will certainly know that she wears her heart out on her sleeve. Someone with your understanding of the fundamental issues, is what we need to resolve the many underlying problems with basic human rights in so many parts of the world. We certainly wish you the best in the work that you are doing, Emine. You can find out more details about the Fellowship at eisenhowerfellowships.org and until the next episode, this is Rabia Garib, logging off. |
